I get UGA's situation with Richt. It's just a matter of being realistic about what is behind Door #2. Odds are pretty strong that you go backwards before you go forwards if you get rid of him so just be realistic about that. If you bring in a disciplinarian for instance he is going to lose a lot of current players who didn't sign up for that and love Richt.
UT fired Fulmer and that certainly hasn't been great for them so far. Texas fired Fred Akers in the '80s with a very similar resume to Richt and took over a decade to recover. A&M fired RC in '02 and is just now starting to get back. It is really rare to replace a successful coach with a more successful coach. As I noted on another thread UT did it with Fulmer after Majors but the list is short.
So I guess are you willing to risk a decade of suckage by replacing Richt? If you don't think that UF, UT, Bama, and USC won't be waiting like vultures to rip into your recruiting base you are delusional. The margin for error you are looking at is very small. Not saying you should or shouldn't do it but be realistic about it.
BTW, Richt easily has a Top 10 coaching resume right now. Who are you going to replace him with (pretty sure Saban and Miles aren't available).

i'm not one who thinks a coach steps in and immediately makes us better. i'm realistic, i know we have to go backwards but are we really that far from it already? you act like we have this bad arse team. in 2008 richt shite the best with an NFL offense. in 2009 we went 8-5 with a talented enough team. 2010 6-7. last year was 10-4 but look at who we beat and how we lost. realistically we could absolutely find a coach to do what richt has the past 4 years. and there is no guarantee we could do that but do you really suggest georgia just sit on it's hands and watch all our rivals and conference win titles while we squawk about how good a christian richt is?
the fact is we know what we get with richt and it isn't even consistent. he's getting worse. and as much as you may think this is a knee jerk reaction know this: i have wanted richt fired since 2009 but primarily i haven't looked back since 2010 Colorado. since that game i have never once gone back from wanting richt removed.
