Big hits from D backs has always been one the best parts of this game. It was exciting and great strategy.

What else are you supposed to do? Do you just let him catch it without trying to jar it loose?

I hate these new rules. A player isn't "defenseless," that's what pads are for.

That's exactly what I said when it happened. The whole defenseless receiver bit is stupid. You hit him hard when he's "defenseless" and the next time he defends himself. Hell, he has the option of defending himself, if he wants to, do it and don't catch the damn ball! It's like throwing a penalty for the d back being where he needs be.

The receiver wasn't defenseless. He wasn't stretched out going for a high throw. He had the ball in his hands and had it against his chest.

I think they ruled that the DB launched himself, which is a different issue, but still I didn't think that was penalty-worthy.
