No I don't think Bama would have tolerated another embarrassing coach. After all the probations, coaches banging office assistants, coaches banging strippers etc. Miles might work for LSU, but most Bama fans would like a coach that can put together a coherent sentence. Also I doubt he could hold up against a 365, 24/7 rival like Auburn. Things work a lot different in AL than LA. The Bama boosters are a lot harder to organize. When 40% of the state is trying to get you on probation constantly its a
much tougher job.

well that's the obvious difference that doesn't get thrown out enough. bama has a legitimate in-state rival. LSU, who is your legitimate in-state rival to compete for marcus spears? TIA.

Les Miles isn't an "embarrassing" coach. I'm willing to bet over 90 college football fanbases would love to have him as their head coach. It's no surprise that he's been so successful at LSU since he was hired. He might not be able to be as successful at Alabama as Nick Saban, but not many can say they can. And there wouldn't be much of a dropoff.
