Bait is used to catch animals and normally the animal that you are trying to catch is in front of the word bait. Just like fish bait is used to catch fish, tiger and gator bait would be used to catch tigers? This is one of the dumbest chants IMHO. But I guess it makes sense to drunk screaming fans. Of course, if you Mississippi inhabitants could read, you would have heard of a Dictionary. It's a collection of words and their meanings. One definition of "bait" is "lure" or "temptation." When LSU fans see opposing fans, we wish to warn you that your presence acts as temptation to tigers to tear you apart. Put down the cowbell and pick up a book sometime.

Born in Slidell, but thanks for playing. You are right the work "bait" is used as a lure ro temptation, but when the word tiger is put in front of it it narrows the definition. It then means a lure to catch tigers. It makes just about as much sense as Hotty Toddy.
