Read any secession era document from that period (such as those from Milledgeville) and count the number of times the word "slavery" appears versus words or phrases like "tariff" or "states rights." The fact is that the Southern states seceded because they feared Lincoln would ban the ownership of slaves.

Exactly, "states rights" is just southern professors trying to make the south sound innocent.
