. Mullen will never be fired as long as he goes bowling every year but eventually 8 and 9 win seasons will be expected but the occasional 6 or 7 win season will be OK. You are gonna take steps back some years.

Your fan base will expect more at some point, which isn't a bad thing. He is building a foundation.

This is teh key. Spurrier has taken how long to get to this point now with USC? He had 3 or 4 years straight of 6-6 seasons after a decent start.

I agree with you but you have to be realistic as a fan base in reguards to what your team is capable of at the time. State isn't gonna just recruit itself based solely on name like a Bama, USCw, or now I'd put LSU in that same category. My point being that State fans can't come to expect 10 win seasons every year. It's just not going to happen anytime soon. If State can consistantly win 8 or 9 games with an occasional 10 win season and run at the west I think you have to be content with that but at the same time don't jump off any buildings and have a meltdown when you throw in a 6 or 7 win season in with that as well.
