Both sides are doing this. I think it's because both fan bases feel the same way. They really want a win and know it's not a guarantee.

Some of my attitude stems from that feeling that if we lose, I'll feel like shite knowing that we went 1-1 against the team that gets to claim the title. And knowing that I'll hear it all year long that the first game meant nothing (my interaction with Bama fans is inevitable).

Plus I bet my FIL a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle and I REALLY want that whiskey!
