I've been reading this whole argument about how he swung high, and why didn't he swing lower bla bla bla.... It's a matter of simple leverage why TM7 don't swing low or punch/hit him lower. If he hits him low, Dre just runs through it and continues towards the ball carrier.... With a strong shot to the shoulder region you can seeTM7 has much more leverage to turn Dre's body, get him off balance and alter his path to the ball carrier.
He was beaten and too out of position to properly apply the technique, thus he got flagged for a hold, but you can also see how easily it spun Dre around.

I should also add whenever you see a lineman, they are not blocking someone around the stomach, they are engaging the shoulders because that is where leverage is gained.. same principle applies to TM7 taking a shot around Dre's shoulders and not lower..
