I'm pretty sure there were multiple eligible teams that didn't spend last evening getting run out of the building by a thoroughly mediocre Clemson team for the second time this season. I'd start with any of them.

Michigan vs. Virginia Tech in the BCS at-large bowl is even worse than Bama getting into the MNC. This whole system is a complete farce.
