Don't most people assume they've made a pretty good hire? And your statement is far from true, anyway. I don't remember too many excited people the day Shula was hired.

Look at Lane Kiffin and Derek Dooley. You know deep down, but you never speak of it b/c you want to pretend its not true
only after the coach is fired or after 3 bad seasons will fans start to admit the truth. As bama fans we lived it for a long time, and i'm sure at some point in the future we'll live it again
