2010 (Auburn) - 7th (1st in SEC) ...iyo, his only good year
2011 (Auburn) - 77th currently

Just in his SEC years, he's had nationally top 20 offenses in 3 out of 4 years. Jury is still out on 2011.

not really his fault for 2011...the defense stays on the field the whole game giving the offense less snaps.

OM needs to go with a more morally bankrupt coach. The reverend didn't work. Try this guy:

well, the only way i see him being any good is if he went to a boise state or tcu type team.

If we had a decent defense, you wouldn't be saying this. At this point I would love to be as good as Boise St or TCU. They would spank the living crap out of us. Boise's offense with Moore is freaking impressive.

I hope you've never said anything positive about Charlie Weiss. Or the hypocrisy of this post would really be off the charts.

for realzies?

Yep, he was offensive coordinator at Arkansas in '06, his first year as a college coach. He completely revamped our offense and helped us go from 4-7 in '05 to 10-2 during the regular season in '06.

He left after the '06 for a step down job at Tulsa because Houston Nutt went behind his back and hired a co-offensive coordinator in David Lee.

That move right there set the ball in motion for Nutt being fired one year later.

Is it because Charlie is so extra large, that even his own fans give him an extra s on his last name?

All I remember about Auburn in 2009 is this guy as a true freshman led UK to a win @ Auburn.

I think that says all that needs to be said.

Obviously no one can say for sure but there are some positive signs.
1. He's a proven winner as an OC.
2. As such he has been a good game and personnel manager for 2 innovative and effective offenses at Arkansas and Auburn.
3. His offense was the main reason Auburn won the NC last year; their defense gave up a lot of points in a lot of games last year.
4. He seems to be a good recruiter considering the talent he has had Arkansas and Auburn and his creative offense would probably continue to attract top talent as a HC.

Well, that may well be part of the problem, but we've had a shitload of three-and-outs on offense as well.

Gus hasn't been on his game so far this year. People often forget, but he struggled with game calling early last season as well. Hopefully he finds his groove this week. It doesn't help that the o-line is getting worse with each game.

I am sure he will get his opportunity to prove it one way or the other. Let's see what happens.

We had 4 penalties Saturday night. Three of them were by the senior "experienced" offensive tackles. And the senior "experience" offensive guard was getting his arse owned all night.

Personally, I'd rather have young kids in their making PHYSICAL mistakes but at least getting a hat on a guy and being physical than I would supposedly "experienced" senior players hurting the team by making freshman mistakes and getting their asses owned by FAU-level talent.

terrible statement I mean just awful.

Do you know who else has had a good OC career and turned out to be a mediocre head coach? Dan Mullins

wrong answer. He is winning games at the hardest place in the west to win.

He turned a crappy Miss St. team into a mediocre Miss St team.

pretty impressive if you ask me.

What makes you think old Gus can do any better? Especially running the spread in the SEC.

depending on what team he takes over he can do a great job.

Malzahn performs miracles on O. Auburn lost Cam Newton and hasn't really skipped a beat.
