they are statistical models, produced by programs written to run on computers.

the guys who make the models are the ones who count, not their computers. and they have to work within guidelines demanded by the BCS. one of the best, ie, results closely mapped to reality on the field, stopped being part of the BCS 'computers' because he refused to stop taking into account the margin of victory.
BCS wanted the statistical models to stop giving credit for crushing hapless opponents, on the politically correct assumption that giving credit for whopping margin of victory encourages coaches to rub it in the last few minutes of games.

So it goes. it is what it is.

Its a statistical program that is the product of the mind of a person, using math and a computer program, ie, its not an f'ing computer.

I'm pretty sure everyone understands this. However, in the common vernacular, they are referred to as the computer polls.
