BIRMINGHAM, Alabama --- The United Way of Central Alabama reports it has an immediate need for volunteers to work its 211 Help Line.
The shifts are 4 hours, and begin at the following times: 4 a.m., 8 a.m., noon, 4 p.m., 8 p.m. and midnight.
Volunteers should arrive 15 minutes prior to their shift start for a brief training. Volunteers will receive incoming calls for assistance, log them into a database and provide other assistance that will be outlined in training.

The United Way says volunteers needed starting at noon today through at least Friday.
