although i think 2002-2004 those teams were damn good. he could have done better in areas, yea, but 2002-2005 (as you included for DJs year) he did a pretty damn good job. 2006 he was rebuilding so 9-4 aint half bad at all. 2007 they were great but he really fricked our chances at a title with losses to a shitty USCe and a skull fricking from UT. 2008 was horrendous, 2009 was awful, and 2010 was an abortion.

The timeline you give of when the team started to squander into penalty/turnover ridden, undisciplined football seems to align with the time Van Gorder left the program. You think Van Gorder's departure had anything to do with it? I've had numerous UGA friends cite this as the main reason, in their minds, for Georgia's recent play. Thoughts?

a lot of fans see BVG leaving as the turning point. its true though, 2005 you would see spots where our defense collapsed unlike before (see AU 2005 and WVU 2005/6)

it really i think led to it. Willie Martinez was awful. richt would not fire him until our defense had completely regressed into the laughable unit you have seen the last 2 years. my tipping point? Alabama 2008. since then all that richt had done wrong in the past caught up with him. he finally let go of willie but a little too late. same with Van Halanger. some say bobo. he has a problem firing his buddies and its catching up
