In football,

we were 7-4 in 2001 in Eli's soph year and didnt get a bowl invite. Bama, who we beat, got the Indy bid over us. Still chaps my arse bc we had a solid team that year. Barely lost to Aub and whooped LSU in DV.

In football,

Until this thread, I had no idea anyone ever referred to "the NCAA's" as football. Learn something new everyday.

Eli had a great game that night as the Tigers committed several turnovers as I recall. Saban and Jimbo decided to turn Davey and Reed loose after that game and the rest is history. I agree that OM team was bowl-worthy.

Yeah, I remember that. Theoretically, Ole Miss was in a 3-way tie with Bama and Arkansas. All 3 teams had 4-4 SEC records, Ole Miss beat Bama, Arkansas beat OM, and Bama beat Arkansas. Don't know what the secondary tiebreaker was, but OM lost out.

However, Bama was 6-5 (lost to ranked UCLA), Ole Miss was 7-4, and as you said, Ole Miss beat Bama head-to-head, so no matter what theoretical tiebreaker, OM should have gone before Bama.
