This is a serious question, because I honestly don't remember all the facts.
In your opinion, how does this situation compare to the Albert Means case? Specifically him being able to play at Memphis, even though Bama was penalized.

We'll just have to see how it plays out beyond this point.

Albert Means was cut a deal by the NCAA.
He was allowed to get his eligibility back in return for testimony against Alabama.

Lest we forget the NCAA hierarchy, those guardians of academic integrity, cutting a deal for Means to leave Alabama and immediately become eligible at the University of Memphis. Means just missed playing for Rip Scherer, who happened to be a secret witness in the case against Alabama before he was fired as Memphis' head coach. And, in something of a first, the NCAA never questioned Mean's eligibility even though his former Trezevant High coach laid out how he paid a teammate $30 to take the college entrance exam for Means.

Too early to tell. Ask again in about 10 months or so.

No comparison imo. The Nzaa's get the biggest hard-on when it comes to phukkin Bama. So letting AU off the hook was a win win in their eyes.

For Means testified.... does that mean he had knowledge of what his coach was doing?

"During the fall, he'd gotten $30,000 from the boosters. The other $170,000 was paid when Means signed with the Crimson Tide in December.
Also during Lang's trial, Means testified that he never took a required standardized test for college admission. Means testified that Lang had another student take the test in his place."

He says he did not.
Other items of note-
Means says he didn't and never received any money - Lynn Lang says he did. LINK

Thanks to a July 26, 1999, memo from his ex-FBI agent, Commissioner Kramer also knew that Mean's high school coach, Lynn Lang, had put his services up for bid -- at least six months before Means signed with Alabama. UT assistant Pat Washington called the investigator to say Lang had told him it would take a house and a car for Means' mother, plus 50 grand for Lang and something for his assistant, Milton Kirk.
