Mississippi State vs Ole Miss

State has accomplished more on a national and conference level in the past 50 years. Agree or disagree?
And as a side not what would Ole Miss fans point to athletically as their crowning achievement in the past 30 years?
I would argue State could say making it to Atlanta or their final four appearance. And several conference tournament championships in Baseball and Basketball.

I post it because for some reason it seems both Ole Miss and State fans view Ole Miss as superior.

It's because people get caught up in the moment, and Ole Miss has won back to back cotton bowls. I've never seen a State fan concede Ole Miss is the superior basketball or baseball program.

Well football wise..
Mississippi State is 7-6 all time in 13 bowls.
Ole Miss is 21-12 all time in 33 bowls. Thats good for 11th all time in wins, tied with LSU.
I realize you said last 30 years but I didnt feel like looking all that up.
Ole Miss also leads the egg bowl 60-40-6.
Thats a twenty game edge to the Rebels.

Football is what counts most to Ole Miss and State fans and Ole Miss has dominated them in football over the last 50 years. Granted MSU has been to Atlanta, but Ole Miss has been ranked more often and gone to more and better bowls.

Case in point, Ole Miss was ranked 4th at the beginning of 2009.

Miss State will always be superior in Basketball I believe..
Ole Miss will always have football IMO, but Miss State can gain ground..
Miss State has baseball but Ole Miss is gaining ground if they could ever get to Omaha. The pieces to the puzzle are there, just need to put it together one year (not gonna be this year though.)
SO in short..HISTORY WISE
OM Football>>>Miss State Football
OM Bball <<<<< MSU Bball
OM Baseball <<<< MSU baseball

OUR regionals sent us to the College World Series. Not to another set of regionals. The first set of regionals now is more like a 'subregional'.
Winning a 'subregional' is not equivalent to winning a regional under the old system, but more like getting to the finals of the old format regionals and losing, i.e. "one game from the CWS". State has a few of those not on the list, either.
After first posting that list several years ago, State fans kept asking me where our SEC West title in football was. So I made the same kind of list adding in OM and MSU divisional titles and 'subregional' titles. I can post it here if someone wants, but it's just more of the same.

I think State has had alot more crappier seasons than Ole Miss, but State has had some very good seasons in football(ATl) and basketball (final four)......just seems like State has more losing overall, but that one stellar season every so often.....of course Ole Miss has bad luck....they go 7-1 in SEC and don't go to Atl....

The only thing Ole Miss has on us is football over the past thirty years. If you include basketball and baseball, they can't say a word. Anyway, we've been to Atlanta, they haven't. We have a better history in basketball and have a final four appearance , and we have been to the CWS recently. They are currently ranked in football and baseball, but both of those programs are on the rise for us, whether you want to admit it or not. You can look at it a thousand different ways. Speaking on the past thirty years in the big three sports though, we definitely have the advantage.
