Urban Meyer was a mid major. they have to get their shot somewhere and given the timing and the results so far I am not complaining.

Then we all should hope the apple falls far from the tree as his lineage for coaching goes through Saban.

Both good hires, RISKY, but good. I guess UF was becoming a Mid-Major when it hired Urban. Other than Lame, I wasd not aware all coaches started off coaching in the big leagues.

If UT is a mid-major for hiring small time coaches what was Florida when they hired Meyer?

Urban was a proven winner. Dooley... not so much. Urban also had a Defensive Coordinator that had proven himself in the SEC.

are you guys really trying to compare dooley to urban?
urban was coming off an undefeated bcs win when he took the job at UF. also, utah is in the mountain west, which is close to becoming a bcs conference if they expand with the right teams.
also, urban record was 39-8 coaching in the mac and mtw conferences compared to dooley 17-20 record in the wac.
its a terrible comparison.

no, we're saying that hiring a coach from a non bcs school doesn't mean shite.
