And the scary part was Russell, unlike Mallet, was pretty darn accurate as a college football player despite what the rantards would say.

I'm just not sold on the guy, although the potential is there. I'm just not sold that it will ever be put together in the NFL for him.

"Large" is a plus in the NFL.

"Slow" can't be argued. He's a sitting duck in a collapsing pocket.

"Inaccurate" is, well...inaccurate. He can be a very accurate passer. When he's being fundamentally sound with his footwork and mechanics, he is one of the most accurate passers I've ever seen on any level. Saw him hit some windows that were TINY. His problem is not accuracy as much as consistency - which he loses when he gets into the big games. There's no doubt he grips up a bit in the big gmaes. That is the NUMBER ONE reason why he needs to stick around for another year with Garrick McGee and Bobby Petrino. Seeing those defenses again and preparing for and playing in those big games for another year will make a huge difference in his progression. I think he can come back next year, a season when he doesn't have to go to Baton Rouge, Tuskaloosa and Gainesville, and put together a very solid resume.

All he needs is the seasoning and experience in big games to overcome those things that are holding him back right now. No doubt he will do that, and he will be a very good pro.
