1. Dez Bryant, Oklahoma State, 6-2/215 (junior). He is a big receiver who exploded onto the scene in '08 when he challenged Michael Crabtree to be the best receiver in college football. Bryant is athletic with rare receiving skills to catch off-target passes easily, even with defenders all over him. He is Oklahoma State's best player and still produces despite being the focus of the defense. He shows good smarts, quickness and technique to get open and make big plays. He also is a playmaker as a punt returner. Projection: Top-15 pick.
2. Arrelious Benn, Illinois, 6-2/225 (junior). He is the big, physical receiver NFL teams covet. Many scouts say he was the best player in the Big Ten last year. He lacks elite speed but shows the quickness and size to still make big plays as a receiver. He is a big-play guy as a returner and is sure to contribute immediately on special teams. He will be more productive in the NFL than at Illinois because he'll be working with a polished and accurate QB than Juice Williams. Projection: First round.
3. Brandon LaFell, LSU, 6-2/207. LaFell shows deceptive quickness and athleticism for a big receiver. He gets upfield quickly after the catch and shows the agility to avoid would-be tacklers. He shows the hands, body control and leaping ability to make tough catches. He is aggressive going after the ball on quick slants and does not flinch when heading into traffic; absorbs the hard hits and hangs onto the ball. LaFell lacks the explosiveness and elite speed to stretch the field. He drops too many easy catches and must show improved concentration in '09 to maximize his draft potential. Projection: Late first round or early second round.
