Yeah that to me is the question if any. It really does not matter, but if the referees were trying to give us the game wow could they have missed a better opportunity?

The rules don't specify that a player can be blocked if he is beyond a certain point, only that he can't be blocked if the ball hasn't crossed the restraining line.
