The single-wing has been around for a thousand years but it was Gus's testicular fortitude to reintroduce it via the "wildcat" that set the play calling world on fire.

Seem to remember Gene Stallings doing this successfully with David Palmer, and even Mike Shula using Tyronne Prothro this way before Gus did.

But, they didn't invent the cool name "wildcat".

I didn't turn on my TV this morning to hear Direct TV asking me if I missed Ronnie Brown unleashing one of Stalling's or Shula's formations on the Patriots.

I didn't get in my car to hear ESPN Radio ask if Vick would have a job if not for one of Stalling's or Shula's formations.

Half the schools in America aren't pondering using one of Stalling's or Shula's formations.

And beyond that single formation, no one was going over board mocking either of the above mentioned hirings due to their "high school" background.

1) It seems to really piss Bama fans off that an Auburn staffer is highly touted. Never realized this til now.

And

2) My question is "Where is the laughter now?".From laughing stock to a 4th year assistant with a better resume than 80% of his assistant peers across America.
