They beat UF, no doubt great win. But who else did they beat, we sucked last year, so don't give me that shite. Texas Tech in a BS bowl, come on.

Unreal that they are ranked top 5 by some polls. It literally makes no sense at all. Most teams have to be in the top 5 or 10 all year to recieve a good ranking the following year. They are going to fall hard and early.

And you say Bama fans are delusional. Top 5 is iffy for Ole Miss, but top 10 is legit at least for the preseason. It's a much bigger travesty to put LSU in the top 10 than Ole Miss.

i think they win the west this year. they have most of their tough games at home, and i believe the won their last 6 games last year. plus they have a pretty damn good qb

I hope you're right but they have a pretty good team with a solid QB and a favorable schedule. This is their best shot ever at winning the West.

I hope Arky fans are right about Nutt and expectations but I think ole miss will do pretty good this year.

They were a legit team at the end of last year and should have a good team again this year. They have a really good QB with experience. That is the #1 factor I look at when deciding how good a team will be. Plus they have the crazy guy on the sidelines calling the plays.

They will be this years uga. All hype and no deliever. They beat a very overrated Texas Tech team in a bowl game. This is where most of the hype is coming from.

What?

How often do you see a team in the SEC come out of nowhere to win their division?

They have no track record and lost their best two linemen. Look what that did to LSU last year. We are a legit top ten team and the best team in the West, they are a one hit wonder who has no track record. It just makes no sense in comparison to how college teams are usually evaluated.

I agree wholeheartedly. I have yet to hear one legitimate reason why LSU should be any better this year than they were last year.

The only thing I hear is that they fired their defensive coordinators, which isn't that big of a selling point for me.

Ole Miss, on the other hand, probably deserves to be ranked somewhere around #10.

i don't think they are coming out of nowhere. they went 6-0 to end the season last year. but if you want an example, LSU in 01 "came out of nowhere". it's not like houston nutt has never won the west.

It is. Ole Miss earned a top 10 nat'l ranking. LSU is resting on recruiting laurels and talent that hasnt done shite on the field.

The funny thing would be IF IF the Nutt gets a little lucky and just for argument sake say OM wins the west (please God no) the Piggy fans will have a friggin meltdown and the OM fans will crown Nutt the next Johnny Vaught and Sexton will demand a 10 year 40million dollar contract and they will pay it. And then the mediocrity that is Nutt will reign supreme.

If Ole Miss wins less than 9 games this year I will personally view Nutt as one of the worst coaches in the conference.

What ever, I don't think that LSU is the same type of school as Ole Miss and while '01 was a surprise the state was set with talent which Mississippi is not. There is no reason other than a weak arse SEC that Ole Miss won their last 6 games and don't even start with the Texas Tech crap. Opinions are like assholes, but this a-hole think Ole Miss is fricking bullshite and will lost 5 or more games in '09.

Also our 4 losses last season were by a combined 19 points. All teams we lost to were ranked at some point last season too. Just saying, we have less question marks going in than any other team in the west, hell even the east with exception of florida maybe vandy or kentucky.

I didn't say that. We're talking about a preseason ranking and Ole Miss is rightfully above LSU.

At the end of last season Ole Miss was a legit top 10 team. The carry over from last season plus a hot-shot QB = good rankings. Been that way for eons.

This is a tough one for me...My heart says "Ross is the man and I agree with everything"...my head says that their "home games" are not gimmies...I'm saying 8-4 max
