to their fans this football season. My pick is Ole Miss because.... well just because they are Ole Miss & that's what they do.

For some of the fans expecting to be in contention for the SEC Title, LSU or Alabama, IMO.

I doubt it. We have surprisingly high expectations, but they are deserved. If we don't do as well as we're supposed to, we'll be pretty happy with 8-9 wins. Lot better than we have been doing.
My vote would go to LSU or Florida.

I've been downplaying Ole Miss since they beat Texas Tech

I actually do believe it will be bama.
First and foremost, the loss in key personnel will be hard to initially overcome for them.
Bama will have to run the ball to be effective.
I don;t think they will be that successful early on as the OL stumbles.
LSU fans already know how bad Saban is with new quarterbacks with no experience. It raised its' ulgy head his last year at Michigan State, it did here in 2002 when Matt got hurt, and again in 2004
early on when JR struggled.
I expect more of the same in 2009.
Then there is the early schedule factor. matchups early in the year are not favorable (VT right off the bat, and Arkansas looks to be a very good matchup against them).
Bama's season may basically be over before mid October. I honestly believe Ole Miss is a good TD better than them.
And I'm not even to LSU yet.
Les Miles has never lost to the same coach twice in a row,s perfect in revenge games and a Saban coached team, as usual, will lose a game he has no business losing.
Looking at the people they lose in 2009, it now appears that Saban may never come even remotely close to his accomplishments at bama than he did at LSU, and certainly will not match the accomplishments in 5 years at LSU.
Bama fans should get used to 8-4, and quickly.
LSU will return to glory in 2009 and once again take its rightful new millenium flagship position as 2010 already looks to be a monster year for LSU.
And there ain't a damn thing Nick Saban, or
bama, can do about it.
