battles with our SEC foes. By next march I think you folks are going to respect Alabama basketball again.

For your sake I hope so.

Your going to need 'Bama fans to start respecting your basketball program again before other SEC fans do.

I'm very interested in how the Crimson/White game turnout will be like. Also, the first home game- No way i'm going to miss that.
Next season just cant get here soon enough...

I guess this means Pearson and the rest of the coaches are gone? Bball coaches usually hire new staffs?

What are your expectations from him in year one? I hope you don't expect him to duplicate Johnson's feat. I think Grant will do a fine job, but the man is going to need some time. Alabama isn't exactly the mecca of college basketball.

He's waiting to see if VCU hires his top assistant there first. Also, he said that he's going to talk to all of the guys from this season individually and go from there.

I'm not sure who ya'll are returning but that doesn't sound impossible. I'm glad that joke of a coach Gotfried is gone and I look for SEC basketball to be on the rise with some new blood in the league! I like this hire a lot.

It's not like the cupboard is bare. We have some good talent and some athletes...along with a pretty decent class coming in. His style of play should compliment our athletes nicely.

We lose Gee and Hollinger. Gee should be replaced my Tony Mitchell who didn't qualify last season. He's good to go now. Swingman like Gee that is athletic.

We have everybody returning but Gee... We have talent it just has'nt been showing cause lack of coaching....

No doubt, Gotfried has squandered some talent over the last few years. I expect the SEC to be tougher next year with most teams returning their core with the exceptions of LSU, Auburn, etc. Ole Miss should be legit in the West and I could see Bama in the mix of things with Grant on the sidelines.

Stromile,
I respect Johnson and what Johnson did, but he was definately aided by a weak conference. Lets be honest in all of his SEC wins he did not beat one team that won an NCAA tournament game.
The SEC will be better so Grant could make the same level of improvement and win maybe 8,9, or 10 games in the conference. But what I am looking for is a team opponents will respect because they hustle and be an overall tenacious team.
I have no expectations for next years team I just want to see a team that is physical and plays hard. And if you watch I hope thats what other fans will see.
But our returning roster is not awful. We have a lot of experienced big men that if they play tougher could really improve.. The rest of the team is great athletes that with some in game smarts could also improve.

Time will tell, if he can manage a major program.
He has all the qualities you want in a coach, but sometimes for one reason or another it doesn't work. It happens aften that rising stars in the coaching profession just flame out. Sometimes its not even because of anything they might be lacking, sometimes the timing just isn't right.
