are they backing themselves out the tourny?
they didn't win the east. they do have 20 wins and will finish above .500 in reg season conf play. The killer is no wins vs top 50 rpi and lost 3 of 5.
joe l had them at 9 but now the last 4 in.
first 4 out: zona,uk, providence, sd state

If every conference got the white glove treatment like the SEC has this year, there'd be a lot of teams freaking out right now. The SEC's problem is its basically LSU,and we are vulnerable and proved it Wednesday.
The Big East has 4 stellar teams, but then a drop off.The ACC has North Carolina and then Duke's name. Their brethren are riding their coat tails.
The SEC is down, but South Carolina,Tennessee,Florida and right now Auburn are as good as some of these other Big East,Big 10 and ACC teams 'automatically' being talked about as "in".

Well we did beat a couple of teams while they were ranked (at Baylor and UF) but now have fallen off themselves. Just beat UGA.. get 1 or 2 SEC tourny wins.. we should hopefully get at least 22-23 wins and less than 10 losses going into the NCAA tournament. That should be enough to get us in.
Our only "holy crap how did we lose to them" game was early in the year at CoC.. we lost in over-time Sam Muldrowless. Our other losses (7 not including CoC) include at SEC champ LSU. 2X to East Champ UT, at UF (lost only 1 home game this year), at MSU, and top 25 team Clemson at home (a game in which everyone was in Tampa for the Outback Bowl)

i agree with that but usce is going in reverse right now. they have no wins over the rpi top 50. 0 an 4 as it stands now and they have uga left in the reg season. they do have those 2 wins over uk but uk is way down. I thought they were a lock to get in about a week ago

There aren't many of us here....
But yeah, we completely self-destructed. We destory Kentucky and are #1 in the East. Then about a week later we have dropped to mid SEC and gotten demolished by two teams we're favored against.
Not good.
Hopefully we'll come back in the tourney.

Yes, we are potentially backing ourselves out of the tourney. Finishing strong does matter, and back to back blowouts by Vandy and Tennessee hurt. Horn did the same thing Johnson did with the schedule: play a lot of cupcakes early so the players could learn a new system.
I think we are pretty much in it if we beat UGA tomorrow. We are a lock if we win at least one in the SEC tournament -- although it looks like we will play Mississippi State who beat us in the regular season, so we still face some obstacles. If we lose to UGA, we are out, barring making the SEC tourney finals.
At the game last night, I realized I hate UT's basketball team even more than their football time. Watching 5 morons run around a basketball court wearing white headbands is just ridiculous -- no matter how talented they are.
I will concede UT earned the victory -- they out hustled, out athleted and, frankly, out-hit us. If they play like that for the rest of the season, they can make some serious noise in the NCAA tourney.
As for us, when we play well as a team, we can be pretty good. Other than Devan Downey, we are still a team of pretty good role players. We match up well with Kentucky, but teams like Tennessee and LSU who have tall athletic players across the board are awful tough for us. How far we go in the tourney depends on the makeup of the team we draw. We have to play fast, force the tempo, win the turnover battle (by a lot), keep our big men out of foul trouble, and be competitive in rebounding (Tennessee ourrebounded us 44-22). If you beat us on the boards, stop Downey's penetration, and are able to play as fast as we can, we're in trouble.

Doesn't Tennessee pay Pearl enough money to afford a dress shirt and tie to go along with his white t-shirt ? That just looks dumb. When he took his jacket off last night ,he looked like some slob at a convenience store getting a six pack.
