The decision came just one day after his first visit to Norman since the departure of former running backs coach Demarco Murray. According to Rhodes, during his visit he just didn’t get the same feeling from the Sooners.

“The visit was way different from other visits in the past. I didn’t feel like a priority. Talking to the running backs coach [Deland McCullough] and the offensive coordinator [Ben Arbuckle] things were off as opposed to when Demarco was there. [Then] it was smooth sailing and an understanding of how I will play at OU,” Rhodes explained on Wednesday morning.

And while much will be made of the change of staff, according to Rhodes it was an all encompassing feeling that changed his plans.

“[It was] change from how to use me, to the relationship I had with the building. I thought I could build a relationship and stay a Sooner but it’s a two way street.

“I didn’t feel the love like I usually do when I did visit.”
