I think the takeaway is that an ability to evaluate talent and character, along with really good coaching, still matters. Throwing money around at expensive players (hopefully) doesn't work. You still have to build a team. Sure you can spend big money on a player or two to fill holes, but you ultimately have to have a solid foundation.
