Alabama beat undefeated Georgia to enter the playoffs at #4. The year undefeated FSU got left out. Texas was 3rd at 12-1. I can’t recall the circumstances of this but why did Georgia fall out punished for losing the sec? Was it because Texas beat Alabama head to head and since Alabama won the sec they didn’t want to leave them out? Most likely. With all those teams having a singular loss in hindsight the sec title should have trumped that bout.

Most likely. Washington and Meatchicken were both undefeated so they were in. FSU, well we all know that story. I guess they took head to head match ups and who gets the most eyeballs on TV to choose between the rest.

It was an extremely competitive year. Florida State being undefeated made it awkward.

The committee knew Georgia was a top 4 team but didn’t probably couldn’t justify it. They already knew FSU “deserved” to be in but didn’t want to leave out the SEC for numerous reasons.

Georgia losing fricked it all up. Alabama winning that game caused chaos
