spend the money they need to on football and this is why they have this coach.

New coach had a big money ad with FedEx money rolling in compared to the other schools in his conference. Coach still can't really distance himself from his competition there.

Arkansas puts their money into basketball and baseball, not football.

Arkansas would be more comfortable playing football in Big 12 where they could win at least half if not more of their games.

The italics are a paraphrase of what he said. Not my thoughts. Just interested if he's right at all. Especially the thoughts from Arkie fans.

That’s good. This conference needs a few automatic wins. Thanks arkansas

Oh, they said that.

Just meaning that in terms of success, it was a better fit for them football wise.

He said he wasn't saying they didn't have money, but if they do, they don't invest enough of it in football to be competitive in the SEC.

I have no idea if it's true. That's why I put it on here.

I mean, UF fanbase says all the time they don't invest enough in football. Not taking a shot, just wondering if their fanbase thinks this is true.

It was true during Sam's tenure but supposedly got much more commitment in funds for this go around.

According to 247, Arkansas was 17th in the nation in football NIL spend. Not great, but not terrible. Issue with Pittman was he did not spend on both sides of ball. It was pretty evident this season. It was like..."whoops, I forgot about the defense."

From what I have read, Tulane, South Florida, and Memphis were the top three NIL programs in the American. On talent ratings the last few years, South Florida was at the top of the American.

We do put our money in those other sports, but we have invested in the football program. Supposedly this will be kicked up a notch with Silverfield. Again as I said above, Arkansas was a top 17 spender nationally.

This is just a lazy thing to say from any reporter.

Out AD flat out said that in a public forum so it’s kind of hard to say it’s not true. However he also said with this new coach we have new and significantly improved financial commitments to the program to increase staff size, NIL, etc. We’re already seeing that on day one with a football specific GM being hired which we haven’t had before but Memphis did. Whether it will translate into wins, I don’t know, but it sounds like we’ll finally be putting in the appropriate amount of funds to football to try and even the playing field a bit more.

I see.

I think Arkansas did great fitting in with SEC. Won the west three times.

They pulled a boss move by taking the invitation to SEC and they were the only team outside of Texas (the state) in the SWC.

I think they could have fit in with the old big12 pretty well.

But that is a shell of a conference it was….just like the ACC.

I drove by the Greensboro Colosseum in North Carolina the other day, and saw the placards of all the ACC teams. It was depressing to see SMU, California, Stanford on there.

BIG12/acc are gonna die, slow or fast.

Appreciate the response. Just wanted to be clear that it wasn't posted as a troll. They were just saying stuff I didn't know much about and figured if there was another side to it, you all would know it.

Appreciate the response. This wasn't a troll post. Not that I don't trash talk on here, but as I said to your Hawg brother above, didn't know how true this was and if his take was at all what most of you thought. I was pretty sure you wouldn't like his Big 12 thought, but he's said for almost a year now that Arkansas doesn't put enough $$$ in like most of the other schools.

The biggest problem has been the AD in terms of the football program. While you could say there has been plenty of money available for players, the AD's lack of committing to more administrative support has been an issue.

There was really nobody around to guide Pittman and his staff on how to spend the NIL money and spread it properly. This season, Petrino and Williams (DC that was fired) had a big falling out during the summer and it was because Petrino got the lions share of the NIL money for his side of the ball. Williams and the defensive side basically got what was left over, as was evident with one of, if not the worst defenses in school history.

Hopefully with Silverfield bringing his GM with him, this will alleviate those issues with him running the program.
