How dumb of calls can you make before an AD can fire you for cause?

I know its a slippery slope but at what point performance wise can you fire a coach for cause based off dumbass calls? A year or two ago miami elected to run the ball when they could have kneeled it and won. Ended up losing the game due to a fumble. Could kelly have punted on 3rd down everytime and not got fired for cause?

If the AD hires you and you were that bad, he could be fired for cause as well. sSound familiar
