Is Louisiana Governor unique?

Or would Governors of other SEC states also insist on making coaching hires? I know in Tennessee it would be unimaginable for the Governor to step in. Not that it would hurt him politically, but it just wouldn’t make sense.

But to answer you the governor appoints the board of regent. The board oversees the states overall higher education policy and management including the hiring, funding, and pay structure. The board has smaller jurisdictions that oversee the regional colleges (vocational colleges as well) but for the most part the president, AD, and head coaches for LSU are directly approved by the board bc of their higher pay. So yes, it is different but this structure has been the norm for decades

I could see Greg Abbott trying to pull some shite like this. He already did it with our university president because one of our reps who's always on social media made a stink.

Well our Governor appoints some of the Board members and the Legislatures appoint the others. Tennessee actually has 2 Boards each responsible for different Universities.

I don’t know of too many other states that would have their guvnah step in for a couple of pressers and talk about their state collegiate football program
