Just some random thoughts…

With the portal and NIL like they are today, not sure how Petrino gets or retains enough players to really improve. I’d like to be wrong.

First time he dog cusses a kid…and he will…daddy will be all about getting him in the portal. Petrino never was Mr.Cuddly on the recruiting trail…still won’t be, so yeah if we can pay enough (we can’t) to get the kids we can get them on campus….then the first rule kicks back in.

Largely the reason I’m becoming more “done” with college football. All the kids want to do is grab as much cash and get to the “league” as soon as possible. Way down the list, if on the list at all…is being a good teammate and trying to win at what is the ultimate team game.

Look around at who succeeds today…younger “players” coaches who create a fun/winning brand. Think Kiffin, Drink, Lashley, Sumrall (@Tulane…I hope we take a look), etc.

Look who retires or declines…old school coaches like Saban, Dabo, Gundy and….Petrino.

old school coaches like Saban, Dabo

They lost their competitive advantage when they couldn't pay under the table.
