Since we would rather not throw his players under the bus for his stupidity let's just be open in criticizing his golf swing that that he worked to polish up during recruiting season.

Describe with deep detail how bad it is. Would Charles Barkley cover his kids eyes?

Somehow he hits the ball towards the target.

The shaft gets vertical in the downswing to a degree I’ve never seen. Conventionally, this is called “steep”.

Most good golfers “shallow” the club.

Hugh somehow gets the club to the golf ball through contorting and manipulating the club.

It is pretty bad.

Look up “Hugh Freeze + help me Kostis” for a breakdown of it.

I expected a really good swing. Guy really does need to play a bunch to get the timing down of all the movement that must occur after the shaft gets vertical which is why I suspect he’s sneaking 9 in and not posting during the season. It would take weeks to get the timing right IF he laid off for football season.

If he showed up at member guest, I’d be happy to be in his flight. Being steep leads to disaster often. I get steep sometimes, but I’m not sure I can stand the club up that much and manage to hit the ball.

Bottom line: a flawed swing needs tons of reps to get the timing down. If he’s breaking 80 with that swing, Hugh has got a great short game or good friends giving him putts.

He somehow partnered with Spurrier and did good in a stableford event, but two rounds of medal play would probably reveal his real ability.

I just checked out the video. His swing is wonky.

That swing suggests he doesn't wake up everyday wanting to go 1-0.

You obviously know your golf. When are you teeing off

So I’ll play tomorrow.

Hugh may have more time to work through swing changes soon.

At this point of Hugh's life he probably thinks what he does works, he wont change, and will soak in the booze and the gloat.

The fact that he can hit it with that swing is honestly impressive

Classic roll it to the inside then it goes way across the line. He never has a chance to not be steep in the downswing.

That’s why I think he’s sneaking 9s in or wearing out a simulator at home. The timing to get that clubface to be pointed toward the target takes constant repetition.

My swing is not great, but I struggle more with being laid off.
