Figure its time. With NIL and unlimited transfers recruiting means less than it used to. But it still has a place.

Demare Dezeurn is a fantastic pickup for Brent Venables, Ben Arbuckle, Emmett Jones, and Jim Nagy.
The kid has elite speed and can be used in every aspect of the offense because he’s also a really good route runner and has great change of direction.
Also, the kid likes to finish plays.

But when you get top QBs to commit it gives a boost to the whole recruiting class. They recruit too. And all the other players who commit become great players and when the original QB transfers most of them don’t
Its the game you have to play. Youngsters want a team with a top QB knowing thats they key position. You need QBs to get others.

I agree, most don’t stay. Surprised Hawkins stayed.
Still have to have QB recruiting. RB/WR/Oline recruits want a good top notch QB to show their skills.
And yes, now you pay the QB. Better to not get the very top QB and pay portal QBs. But portal QBs are mostly about bidding and recruiting is still somewhat about program with money sprinkled in.
Thats the dilemma, splitting money between portal and recruits at each position.

I saw that the Lousiana HS QB Peyton Houston committed to LSU today.
Can't say that I'm surprised. LSU generally locks down their state.

Can’t get them all. Thing is with 27 class thats so far down road. Will be a crapload of flips as season winds on. And if LSU doesn’t make playoffs they could can coach.
OU tends to keep coaches longer but lots of SEC teams don’t. Its why so many coaches demand guaranteed contracts and many teams are spending lots of dead money.
With NIL it can catch up as these buyouts might reduce money a bit. I’ve seen lots of Kelly speculation already and its early with them at 3-0. Some fanbases are tough lol

Yep - when BV and Joe went shopping for an OC to replace Seth - I had no idea that we'd belly up to the buffet line to grab a combo platter of OC + QB.
Maybe we pluck a portal QB when the '27 signing deadline rolls around.
With JM and MH looking good, the top talent that wants development and trophies along with NIL will be willing to listen to our offers.
