This is from Rotoworld.com

"As rumor has it, underclassman RB Glen Coffee was forced out at Alabama because Nick Saban had already declared rising sophomore Mark Ingram his 2009 starter"

I thought Coffee was better than Ingram from what I saw.

Don't leak that out! The Gumps are all promising Trent he will be the starter next year!

never heard that...all I hear is how everyone was upset that he went Pro...I have heard that Smith was forced out due to some of his actions Pre and Post Sugar Bowl...

In my honest opinion I dont see Saban kicking out his star running back

I smell something that would normally emanate from Lee County.

I seriously doubt a coach will complain about having too many good running backs.

Well, if it is on a “Fantasy Football” website it must be true.

it is on the senior bowl preview. I was just posting what I read and thought it was interesting and people on here would like to read it as well. That is what a message board is for.

I actually think this is probably true. FORCED seems like a strong word though. I like encouraged much better.

Why? Coffee was significantly better than Ingram this year.

Yeah me too, because it makes sense to force out your leading rusher...

I wish Chizik would force out our leading rusher and passer

For a couple of reasons. First, yes Coffee had better numbers but he also had more carries. But I actually think Ingram is/will be the better back. Second, Trent Richardson. Third, I actually believed that this, from an objective view, was going to be Coffee's best year. With the O-line dismantled and new QB you just can't be guaranteed a lot of yards. Common sense would tell you that we will struggle next year.

This last reason is why I don't like the word 'forced'. His draft status would probably not really improve and could very likely go down. I think Coffee did the right thing and if Nick agreed with it, he was giving Coffee good advice. It really was in his best interest to go this year.

Coffee saw the light and who he was losing off of his offensive line. He knew our OL would not be near what they were this year. the OL IMO was what made coffee this year
