With our defensive problems should we take the ball 1st?

With our inability to get off the field should we start taking the ball 1st if we win the toss?

If we take the ball 1st, we more than likely score and there is no pick 6.

If that pick 6 happens on the opening drive, it’s even worse.

Not sure how...we'd only be down 6 instead of 13

The way the defense was playing, it would be 13-0 regardless. A pick 6 on the opening drive sets the momentum of the game.

Well in future games since our defense sucks so bad shouldn't we take the ball first and score?

It won’t matter if the defense doesn’t improve. The offense Bama runs makes it difficult to control the clock.

Hell yes. I need to hear "we want the ball, and we're going to score" every time we win the toss from now on, or I'll know it's time to hit up Joey F'water.

We probably lose today if we don't take the ball 1st.

The "Standard" that we hear players and coaches mention doesn't change. However I feel like deboers standards are much lower. This is his 3rd year as a p5 coach and has so much to learn but I don't think he understands that. I feel for the players that committed to a standard of excellence only to see someone lower that standard. I hope I eat crow on this

There is an argument that getting the opportunity to end half score, start half score is a better way to protect a bad defense. But that is very circumstantial whether you get that opportunity.
