The Hoover City Council approved Monday night a Southeastern Conference proposal to extend the SEC Baseball Tournament at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium through 2028 with options to continue the event to 2030. The Hoover Park and Recreation Board will take a final vote today on whether to accept the terms of the agreement. According to the Hoover Sun, Hoover is offering to make $11 million in improvements at the Met.
Hoover has hosted the SEC Baseball Tournament for 27 years. The event has shattered attendance records over the past two years.

It's funny that all the newcomers (going back to 2012 as well) thought that the location would change to be more centrally located. The western folks are in for a rude awakening when they realize that it aint ever leaving Hoover.

I approve this message. My RV friends at the Rolling Bulldogs will be thrilled. We don't go anymore but it was always a great trip. One of my favorite weeks of the year. Great baseball!

attendance will suffer with the single elimination format

Agree on attendance. Think the single elimination is better for teams involved though, especially with what I believe the format change this year where all teams will make the tourney.

quote:We went even when we were in the playin game with the possibility of one and done. But even in double elimination and we would get put out, we stayed the week for baseball. Attended most but not all games depending on weather (heat). Most of the Rolling Bulldogs did. LSU fans would stay most of the week as well, win or lose.
