It could be a long season

Reports from the scrimmage are leaving a lot to be desired. Either we have an 85 Bears level defensive or the O is just not ready for prime time. I have reset expectations to wanting good Oline depth and figuring out a roster for the 25 season. I know guys were out but it’s concerning.
Oline, Oline, Oline need to get it together or it will not matter who the QB is. I understand it makes sense for them to be ahead for the 1st scrimmage but from folks that were there it seems like it was a significant amount of difference between the Oline and Dline.
9-3 will still likely be the outcome barring the unforeseen but anything over that just doesn’t seem realistic at this point.

If Heup doesn't have an offense this year, you can quit worrying about a long season, and start focusing on a long coaching search.
And yes, our defensive line will be SEC best-in-class. You know our DL is 3 deep with 4 and 5-stars in nose man and DT, right?
What else have you heard bad? Cause I heard that Desean is ready to go. I mean it is the first scrimmage, so what other doom you got?

The fact that the whole system is predicated on the O working. If we can’t run the ball we will be a 3 and out machine. And that would kill the D.
Sampson not being a willing blocker is a concern. 2 guys playing dinged up with little experience behind them on the Oline is a concern. The Heupel O must run the ball to split the NCST/OU/Bama/UGA games. Those are the season. 2 of those three and a head scratcher loss is 9-3.

I think the O-line will fix itself. This was just the first scrimmage. The concern is depth. Apparently the center position is deep.

We will win those four games.

I believe we are good enough to beat 8 teams on the schedule barring a complete meltdown in the system. The difference between 9-3 and 10-2 or better is going to be injuries and RB play.
I got to watch Bishop play at Karns and believe he could be a solid college back. My issue is who wants to pick up a blitz? Who can run and block well enough to keep an extra TE or OG out of the backfield.
And who is going to be able to go a couple series on the Oline in a big game to keep the guys fresh enough to stay healthy?
This is arguably the best top to bottom roster we have seen in decades. And this roster could be the foundation roster for a really nice run of recruiting and playoffs. But if teams can just blitz us into oblivion because the left side of the line is banged up and we can’t pick up a hot blitz it’s going to be remembered as a nice 8 win season that we were not really competitive in 2-3 games.

I'm positive the issue will fix itself.
-McCall hasn't really played against elite competition
-Oklahoma will be challenged without the presence of Lebby and Gabriel
-No Saban means Bama will be beatable; Tommy Rees greatly benefitted in Milroe's adjustment
-Georgia has a bullseye on their back with the sham witch hunt investigation; Bowers and McConkey aren't there anymore; getting reports their DL having issues
One big factor missing is helmet communication; that will be beneficial

I would be mildly surprised if we don’t go 2 and 2 in the four games that should be considered the key games. I really want this to be a 10-11 win season. I’m just skeptical with issues we’ve all seen before.

Thank goodness we now have a QB that has the potential to be a playmaker. That was on display in the Iowa game.

8-4 gross failure or 11-1 and in the finals.
Either way, no one will care or remember whether we called it right or not.
At least 5-7 is off the table and doofus, 5 star hearts, and aight are in the rear view mirror.
Let's just focus on NC State.

I don't think we have to worry about that, I believe coach Heupel learned a lot from last year experience and we upgraded significantly at the QB position.

I believe our offense can be better than the one with Hooker!

Last year we saw a new OC with a QB that was not ideal for the situation.
The tempo was slowed down and it killed the redzone production.
Now if Heard can stay healthy, and the RBs can pick up the blitz we might have something special.
