An all-time Aggie favorite as quarterback, Bucky Richardson has one of the most memorable football careers at Texas A&M. It was said that he played quarteback with a linebacker attitude. He was the most winningest A&M quarterback after his senior year, going 10-0 as a starter. Richardson threw for 3,039 yards and 14 touchdowns in his career and rushed for a net gain of 2,095 yards that put him as the SWC’s all-time rushing quarterback. He was also a member of the SWC 1987 and 1991 championship teams. Honorable Mention All-America, 1991 Consensus 1st-Team All-SWC QB, 1991 Consensus Offensive Player of the Year, 1991 10th in Heisman Trophy balloting, 1991 Davey O’Brien Award finalist, 1991 Aggie Heart Award Recipient, 1991 8th round pick by the Houston Oilers

But he didn't really. He was playing in the SWC when most regional powers were flat on their as and uncompetitive. He had a very bad record against ranked teams.

1987 - He beat a #20 Arkanas who would go on to finish unranked. Beat a good Tim Brown ND team

1988- Played 5 ranked teams and lost all 5 games

1989- Best year - Beat a couple top 10 teams in LSU and Houston but then dropped a game to ranked Arkansas and we lost the Sun Bowl to a so-so Pitt team ranked 24th

1990 - Played 2 ranked teams all season and lost to both. Recovered with the big win over Ty Detmer and BYU

So he had a record of 5 wins and 9 losses against ranked teams.

Mond was worse in this category in my mind, but Bucky's rep as a big game dude is overblown when you analyze his career.
