I think the derision of Kelly is based on concerns of the potential he has at LSU. The fact that he failed to perform at a high level at Notre Dame is a concern but it needs context....Notre Dame has some constraints that do not exist at a normal program. That alone forces the question that given those constraints and the success he did have at ND is it not plausible that removing those constraints would lead to more success? There is also the recent history at ND...not great considering their sense of themselves and many in the CFB world....that includes several coaches, not just Kelly.

The derision also dismisses the mess Kelly inherited. If he never wins a natty (doubtful he doesn't) he has DEFINITELY righted the ship when it as about to hit the rocks and sink....in the same sense that Mark Richt did at UGA. I want to see Kelly and LSU fail miserably 'cause they ain't UGA but realistically pretending that LSU ain't in a good spot, especially considering where they were just a few years ago, is just foolish. Its one thing to deride Kelly simply because he is at LSU...thats fine....but to actually mean it is probably not being realistic....
