Some fans wanted him fired, yet your AD wasn’t going to. Cal left on his own, and for less money.

Cal saw the writing on the wall and had been trying to leave since January when he considered going to Ohio State. It was far more than “some” fans by the end of this last season. I don’t know anyone who wasn’t ready for him to move on after the Oakland loss with the roster he had. Anything that suggests otherwise is your revisionist history. Just like Tubby, he knew it was time to part ways and I appreciate that.

And now, y’all were forced to hire Mark Pope. Could Pope work out? Maybe, but I doubt he’ll have the record Cal had there.

When Cal was good he was historically good for Kentucky. That would be hard to replicate for anyone. The problem for Kentucky is he hasn’t been good in almost 5 years. He’s actually been historically bad by Kentucky standards despite still pulling an incredible amount of talent.

At this point, Mark Pope looks like the right hire. He’s doing well in the portal. And most Kentucky fans are ready to get back to more consistent rosters that are actually willing to return year to year.

Again, I’m not sure why you’re so upset that most of the reasonable Kentucky fans here are ok with Cal leaving, it being of benefit to Arkansas and Kentucky.

This. It’ll work out well for both Arkansas and UK.

Absolutely love the job Pope is doing so far, and I think Arkansas fans will be happy with Cal. Not sure why the trolling from the Arky fan.

The only revisionist history is Kentucky fans saying they fired Cal. The man was going to be Kentucky’s coach for years more unless your administration was willing to pay $35 million buyout.

Cal probably was ready to leave, 15 years is a long time. The Arkansas job is as good as you can get in the SEC after Kentucky. I’d say he landed fine and we’re excited about it.
