I can’t think of a famous pro tennis player who even finished high school and there are lots of competitive opportunities at every level of college for amateurs who want to play while getting an education. D1 tennis isn’t on the map as far as the sport goes, so why have it?

This is the case with most college athletes. It is the end of the line after their college career. I don't mind that you prefer wrestling to tennis, but I just don't see any reason to say college tennis does nothing for the sport itself. NCAA sports should not be primarily for a jumping off to professional sports imo, even though that is how it is viewed in by many and maybe by most.
