It just seems like it’s killed the emotional connection - especially by us old guys - to the game. The beauty of college athletics is that kids played it for the love of the game and their school, with the potential for riches in the NFL. That’s naive and Pollyannaish, but it’s how we always saw the game.

However, when coaches are making $10M a year and a bunch of others are getting rich off the labor and talent of these kids while all they get is an education, food, housing and a stipend (and yes I’m aware they’ve been getting paid more UTT for decades) it’s a problem. I can see why they’d want a bigger piece of the pie.

I’m not smart enough, but hopefully there’s a way we can conserve the spirit of playing for your school, being a student-athlete and give the kids what they’re worth too. Probably naive.
