My $.02 but this logic isn't the gotcha people think it is.

Stacking talent hits alot differently for basketball and football than it does for a more statistically random, variable sport like baseball. There's a reason baseball teams lose 30% of their games, and it's not coaching.

A better comp. would be soccer. And even that sees more upsets than football imo.
We already see NBA teams hoarding talent even with a salary cap.
