Those players were receiving practically no earnings

There was no one better than Saban at getting players to the NFL, and it's one of the many reasons recruits wanted to play for him. His program was a pipeline to the league where these guys earned their real money, and he helped maximize their value. Those that had no shot of a professional career after college were encouraged to earn their degree, and Saban's teams consistently had one of the highest graduation rates in the conference. No need to pretend like these guys left UA with nothing to show for it.

I never said that and your effort to portray it that way is ignorant at best. You help make my point in your very first sentence when you describe how good Saban was at getting players to the NFL, that previously was the main aim of all highly recruited players,…….., get to the NFL to make money. Saban and Alabama leveraged that spectacularly to put together great teams, while being arch hypocrites by pulling in millions and billions of dollars for themselves and their institutions. Just because there were many players that came to realize they had no shot at the NFL and got a degree does not make the old system fair or just.
