A horrible result. I feel so bad for his family. I will talk with my 23 yo about this in hopes that it helps her feel, not scared but, less invincible.

My prayers go to his family.
I do think it was pretty crappy that his fraternity brothers let him go off by himself, considering they say he was drunk.
At least 2 of his friends should have taken him back to the hotel. I guess they were too busy partying to think about the safety of their friend.
