Definitely a 21st century thing but absolutely not Brian Kelly. Would have never caught on in the 80s.

Caught fire with Coach O. The L is really shorthand for The Boot. I'm old and moved away 20 years ago but I gather between the shooty hoops team and NOLA rap culture The Boot took on a life of its own. It's a cool way to show your pride in LSU or Louisiana in general.
