The largest QB on the Bulldog roster is RS freshman Chris Relf at 6'3 211. I am curious to see how Mullen's single-wing spread option style offense will work in Starkville. They should have a decent defense, but will they score in 09?

Looking long-term, will he be able to recruit up there? The state of MS is actually pretty good in producing elite NCAAF talent, but the players in south MS go to LSU, north MS go to Bama/Aub.

Your mistake is in assuming that he needs a big QB in the offense. All they need is a fast QB. Tyson Lee will do until he gets hurt then I think Relf or newcomer Tyler Russel steps in.

Only 39 of Ole Miss' 130 players are from Mississippi.

The rest come from west TN (Memphis area), south ARK, north LA, and more than you'd think from TX and FL.

Apparently all of our players are LSU, Bama, and Auburn's scraps.
But in reality Ole Miss competes with Bama, Auburn, and LSU for top notch talent in state, and then goes and finds overlooked players in LA and Florida. Mike Wallace, Dexter McCluster, and Kendrick Lewis are examples of players we took that no big SEC schools offered. They are all good players. Just not physical specimens

Tyson Lee at 5'11 190 can't run between the tackles which was a large part of UF's offense w/ Tebow. Obviously there will be adjustments to tailor to what MSU has, but running what UF runs you need a big strong QB who can take (and deliver) a pounding.

You know they won a NC with Chris Leak right?
They won't be great. But they'll find a way to score some points. I wouldn't worry about being upset by them though, even as an Ole miss fan.

Never said scraps. Didn't look like scraps in BR a few wks ago.

Still, MS top talent Jackson and south seems to go to LSU, north of Jackson seems to go east to Bama/Auburn.

Stats confirm this w/ 91 of 130 Ole Miss players hailing from a state other than MS.

Needless to say Nutt did a great job in 08 w/ several lightly recruited players.

but will they score in 09?

of course. we just got rid of the worst unimaginative, non-adjusting offensive OC-HC combo ever.

we'll see. I'm hearing a few top players that intended to leave are wanting to talk with Mullen now.

Actually not entirely true. LSU commit Garret is from tupelo. All of Auburn's players from MS come from the Laurel/h-burg area. Bama from anywhere. Besides, it should change. Croom was known across the state as a lazy recruiter.

Starting Halfback
2 WR in our 5 deep, including #1 reciever
3 of our 5 starting O-line
1 O-lineman from Memphis which might as well be Mississippi, only an hour from Oxford.
2 of our Defensive linemen
1 LB
1DB
1DB from Memphis

9 of our starting 22 are from Mississippi
11 or 12 if you are counting Memphis kids.

It will be hard at best. Thet just can not compete with other SEC teams. Money and site kill them.

Mostly site. Starkville is easily the worst college town in the SEC. They also play in the second worst stadium.

I believe any coach other than Sly would have won the MSU/Barn game, so YES he will win ( as much as MSU can)

Oh I see. He was trying to say that Oxford, MS is the worst place in America, even worse than a bunch of African countries, and that Vaught-Hemingway is not only the worst stadium in the SEC, but it's even worse than half of the local Baton Rouge high school stadiums. Bobo can go back to Livingston Parish.

he has probably never been outside the denham springs trailer park.

the worst sec stadium is war memorial in little rock if you want to count that as a stadium.
