But Bama is battling a lot of hurdles here - some high end roster depletion, some degree of culture change, personnel differences with new guys being brought with new coach and the remnant high end talent, high anxiety fans, etc.

My guess is that DeBoer could do pretty well at Bama under the right circumstances, but I think he'll be on a knife's edge to make all this work well enough the first couple of years and not get into a spiral where internal conflicts, pressures, etc. destabilize his tenure.

Ultimately, what was a really hard task (finding a way to follow Saban) has become almost insurmountable
